Healthy nutrition

Among the different pathologies that affect us, some such as type 2 diabetes and obesity have become true epidemics that affect an increasingly large population, including numerous young people and adolescents. The statistics are clear: in the Canary Islands, 13.8% of people suffer from diabetes and more than 20% of children are overweight or obese. These data reflect a worrying trend that must be urgently stopped.

In our company we believe that education is the key. We must raise awareness among the youngest about the importance of acquiring healthy habits from an early age to prevent diseases in the future. For this reason, we have developed a program of entertaining talks aimed at school-age children and adolescents from 12 to 17 years old, where topics of healthy breakfasts, healthy eating and prevention of diseases such as type 2 diabetes are addressed.

The talks explain how being overweight in adolescence significantly increases the risk of developing diabetes and other pathologies when reaching adulthood. Practical guidelines are also given to identify healthy foods, read labels carefully, increase consumption of fruits and vegetables, and avoid processed foods. Likewise, the importance of daily physical activity versus a sedentary lifestyle is emphasized. With this project we seek to ensure that young people value their present and future well-being, adopting correct nutritional habits that they will maintain as they grow up. They will be the healthiest generation, free of preventable diseases. In our company we are convinced of the power of education to transform lives. We know that investing in youth is betting on a more prosperous tomorrow for everyone. Join this mission too, share with your networks and help create a healthier society!
